Where to start? The whole team played well. Everyone reached base safely at least twice.
Greg
- 4 hits (with all that running, he was sore)
Matt - 3 hits, a ROE, 3 RBI, 5 R! (His being so young, I doubt his legs were
sore)
Scott -
on base safely 5 times, a homer, 3 RBI
John T.
- 3 hits, 2 homers, 5 RBI
Patrick
(his first year with us) - 4 hits, a ROE, a homer, 4 RBI
Rick (his first year with us) - 3 hits and excellent left field
John P. - 3 hits and, as always,
steady left center field

This double-header victory
was especially satisfying--
it was against the two teams
we lost to five nights ago!!
These were exciting games.
In the first game,
we scored 3 in the top of the
eighth to go ahead 9 to 6, and then we held on for the win.
In the second game,
Scott's solo HR in the bottom
of the sixth tied the game at 4,
and in the bottom of the seventh,
Mark led off with a single,
then Jared singled, and Reid's
hit brought Mark home with the winning run!
Mark was the man - 6 hits
on the night, 3 RBI
Scott - 4 hits, 3 RBI
Matt - 4 hits
John T. - 4 hits
Vito - 3 hits
Jared - 3 hits
Jared made several outstanding
plays at second base,
including a running over-the-shoulder
catch, turn, and throw to home,
where Bob scooped a short hop
to double up a runner trying to score.
End of inning.
Awesome.
Game # 7 - June 12, 2002 - W

We lost the second game 15 to 14.

After recovering from an
early 9 to 1 deficit, we rallied and even took a brief lead.
The highlight was Reid's three-run
triple.
We then fell behind again.
Our last-ditch rally fell short.
(Yours truly left the tying
and winning runs in scoring position. Ouch!)

We certainly took advantage
of our opponent having only 9 players.
We jumped
out ot a 9 to 2 first-inning lead and never looked back.
All the Bacardi Bats had at
least one hit and scored at least once.
John P. and Vito had 4 hits
and 4 runs each,
Rick (hobbled knee and all)
had 5 RBIs,
Jared had 4 RBIs, and Matt,
John P. and Vito had 3 RBIs.

It wasn't until the next morning
when I looked at the scorebook that I saw the real reason we didn't win--
13 runners left on base!!
Matt was great at the plate--5
for 5.
Ed had 3 hits.
Greg had 3 hits, including
a leadoff triple in the top of the 7th and scoring the go-ahead run.
We're 7 (wins) and 4 (losses) and 1 (tie)
